Athletics – Winter Update

Hello NHS!

The School Committee has approved the high school to have winter sports. As we are all aware, it will be different from normal years, but nonetheless grateful to be able to participate in some capacity. The winter season has been adjusted by the PVIAC and will start on January 11th and end on February 28th.

We will be offering:

Alpine Skiing
Coached by Mark Krodel ( vtcoachmk@yahoo.com).

Swim and Dive
Coached by Jacob Wingfield ( jawbpr@gmail.com), Sherry Wingfield (swingfie@smith.edu), and Lou Ann Bierwert ( lbierwer@smith.edu).

Basketball Skills Program
This is a cost-free program and will be practices only until the Northampton Health Department removes the suspension.
Girls program will be spearheaded by Perry Messer ( pmesser@comcast.net).
Boys charged with Rey Harp ( rharp@northampton-k12.us).

Here is the registration link for all sports: https://www.familyid.com/northampton-high-school-athletics/winter-2020-2021-12

To be able to participate, students must reach all eligibility standards, complete the online registration, submit a physical (good for 13 months), pay the registration fee (if necessary), and complete the new concussion testing protocol (unless it was already taken in the fall) by January 8th, 2021.

The MIAA has moved Indoor Track & Field to the Fall 2 season, starting in March, and Wrestling has been moved to the Spring season.

The Northampton Health Department is not allowing our students to participate in Ice Hockey co-ops this season. The Easthampton School Committee also did not approve for Ice Hockey or co-ops to happen this winter.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Happy holidays, get HAMPED!
