This statement was sent to the Northampton School Committee, Principal Vaillancourt, the NHS Student Union, and the Northampton Youth Commission.
The Northampton High School PTO is committed to supporting the emotional and physical safety of all students, staff, employees, and our caregiver community at-large. The PTO strongly supports a ban on the display of Confederate flag imagery on Northampton school campuses, in any form. Moreover, the Northampton Public Schools must demonstrate its commitment to banning displays of all other symbols of racist ideology from both in-person and online classrooms. The Northampton High School PTO welcomes the continuing discussion of how to be a stronger ally for our community.
