MCAS & AP Testing

Dear AP Students and Caregivers,

As many of you know, exam dates coming from both DESE and the College Board this year have been moving targets. We know how important AP testing is for kids and teachers and how much time and effort is put into preparing for them. At the same time the logistics of the scheduling, proctoring, and dates have been difficult and took some time.

Many of you have reached out to request that students have the opportunity to take paper AP exams. I am happy to let you know that due to the extension of the DESE testing window into June we are able to shift math and ELA MCAS exams for sophomores and juniors to the end of May and still have time for restests which will allow us to run the AP Administration 1 paper exams in person at NHS. Here you will find the May testing schedule. Some guidelines:

  • Students who wish to test in person and on paper will be required to test during AP Administration 1 except for physics classes which will take paper tests during Administration 2.
  • Administrations 2 and 3 will be available for students to test, but testing will need to take place remotely from home. (If a student has extenuating circumstances that make this impossible please reach out to us directly.)
  • All sophomores and juniors will be taking MCAS exams in May and will not be able to participate in AP Administration 2 exam sessions on May 20, 21, 27, or 28.

If students choose to take a digital exam remotely in either administration sessions 2 or 3 they will need to notify Merric Kallfelz/Teacher K (email hyperlinked here) via email or by filling out this google form by Monday March 29th at 3:00pm.

Thank you and feel free to reach out with any questions.
