NEF Plant & Garden Market

The Northampton Education Foundation (NEF) Plant and Garden Sale—a sure sign that summer is on its way—returns in-person on Saturday, May 8, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Smith Vocational High School (80 Locust Street, Northampton) and online (go.rallyup.com/nef) right now!

NEF’s annual garden sale features treasures from local gardens, hanging baskets, veggie starts and herbs, as well as raffles for a handmade quilt with a botanical theme and a bench and trellis made by Smith Voc students. The plant sale raises money for books and online resources for the Northampton Public Schools—in 2019 we raised more than $13,000.

While the 2020 Plant Sale was cancelled because of the pandemic, this year, in response to Covid-19 guidelines, this year NEF is offering a hybrid model of online sales (go.rallyup.com/nef) which is now live, and a smaller in-person event on May 8. Check out the RallyUp site to see the (growing) plant selection — sorted by Sun, Shade, and Partial — and get your raffle tickets from the comfort of home!

Donate Plants!
Plant Sale organizers are looking for plant donations from local gardeners. Anyone who has perennials to divide or plants they are removing from their gardens can pot them and drop them off before the sale at:
● 373 N. Farms Rd., Florence
● 36 Wilson Ave., Northampton
● 31 Forbes Ave., Northampton

Plants may also be dropped off at Smith Vocational High School on Friday, May 7, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Plants should be labeled, potted early, and well watered so that they look great on the day of the sale.

Volunteers are available to provide pots, help with digging, dividing, and potting, and for picking up potted plants. Contact Amy Levine at alevine7@gmail.com for more information.

Volunteer!
NEF needs volunteers to collect and organize donated plants on Friday, May 7 and to work at the event on May 8, providing advice and answering gardening questions. Contact Mandy Gerry at mandygerry@gmail.com.
