Next semester will debut a new course called “Rock Workshop.” It’s a complete beginner instrumental course for high-needs students. I’m excited to create this new classroom space in the high school and I believe that it could be the beginning of something very special here for students that haven’t come up through the middle school’s band program.
For this class a small group of students will be playing and learning instruments typically associated with Rock music, like guitars, bass, drums, and piano. We have lots of instruments here at NHS but we’re short a few guitars and basses. The NHS band program is looking for 1-2 guitars (acoustic or electric) and 1 electric bass.
Community members who think they may have an instrument, in playable condition of course, to donate should send a picture of the instrument to pkinsman@northampton-k12.us to see if it’s a good fit.
