PTO UPDATE

Thanks to those who were able to attend the December 13 PTO meeting in the NHS Library. We will probably host the next few meetings (Jan. 11, Feb. 8) on Zoom to allow more participation.

Heartfelt thanks to our December guest speaker, Northampton Public Schools district-wide Food Services Director Mistelle Hannah for joining us. Mistelle shared the incredible and inspiring details of providing over 383,000 meals to our students, families, and the community since March of 2020, beginning one week after schools closed to in-person learning. She led her dedicated team of food-service workers, drivers, volunteers through 18 continuous months of cooking, packing, delivering, and providing meals to and for the community. Please share your appreciation the next time you see a Northampton Public Schools food service worker. Additionally, the district has some exciting professional development and farm-to-school programs that are possible again with school in session.

As we are about to turn the page into a new year, we would like to thank the Northampton High School teachers, staff, and administration for working so hard for our students.

Special shout out to the anonymous donor who filled the Math Department wish list for calculators, and donated them in the name of the PTO. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

This month, the NHS PTO purchased tickets to The Nutcracker for the Best Buddies members – enjoy the show!

And, as our thoughts turn to thanks and appreciation, we ask that you review the requests for donations, whether financial or in-kind, in our newsletter. Maybe you have a great acoustic guitar or box of art supplies gathering dust in your closet that our teachers can make use of in their classrooms. YaYa’s Closet at NHS is always in need of nut-free granola bars and other snacks, as well as shampoo and conditioner for curly and ethnic hair.

As always, please reach out anytime:  nohopto@gmail.com

Thank you so much!
