NHS Covid FAQ:
Mask requirement
- All students are required to wear an N95 mask or a surgical mask. NHS will continue to require this type of masking through the month of January.
Excused student absences
- Students absent due to a positive Covid test will be marked as excused.
- Caregivers should document the positive case with a photograph or letter from a health care provider.
- Preferred format is a photo.
- Send via email to Yammira Santos or hand delivered to the NHS main office.
Some symptomatic students have been kept home while awaiting PCR results, which could take several days- are these absences excused?
- Yes. This would be excused with proof of the test results (see above).
What is the sequence of testing with pooled test, then rapid test at school if they’re in a positive pool? Students are only sent home if they test positive and not if they’re close contacts, correct?
- This is right.
- Pool Test: all students in positive pool given rapid test.
- Students who test positive are sent home.
- Close contacts are notified by email.
Are students required to submit a negative test before returning to school?
- No test is needed after five days. Students may return after five days when fever-free.
Some teachers tell students that they cannot access classwork on unexcused days.
- We expect that students will prioritize their health when out sick.
- However, ESPs may be assigned to work with COVID-19 quarantined students remotely.
- Teachers are required to prepare work for students who are absent due to a COVID-19 quarantine.
- Because health status is confidential, it is the responsibility of the student/caregiver to request work from teachers.
- Two student work days will be available at the end of the semester. These work days are designed for students needing additional time to make up work.
Testing:
- Pooled testing continues every Tuesday 9:30-10:30.
- A one-time sign up for pooled testing and in-school rapid testing is required.

Library Renovation Update:
- We have a draft design of the library space which looks amazing. I will share it once we have a final price from the vendor regarding the library re-design. Once we have this figure we are going to host a community information session and begin a fundraising campaign.
