Pioneer Valley Invitational Ultimate Frisbee Tournament – May 14-15 at The Oxbox

As of today, 49 high school teams from across the northeast US and Canada will converge on Northampton on May 14 & 15 for return of the Pioneer Valley Invitational (PVI), the region’s premier ultimate tournament. Ultimate is one of the world’s fastest growing sports, according to USA Today, and weekend tournaments are one aspect of the sport that draws young people to it.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the Northampton High School boys and girls ultimate program and two other worthy causes. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ultimate Peace, a non-profit that builds bridges of understanding and friendship between youth who live in communities divided by conflict using Ultimate Frisbee as our tool. Funds will also support UltimateGood.org, a charitable organization that leverages the power of conscientious Ultimate Frisbee Players by enabling them to easily donate as part of their tournament registration fees.
In addition to being a fun and competitive event, the PV Invite could also bring important economic benefits to the Northampton community in the form of lodging, food, merchandise sales and tourism. Teams will play at the Oxbow Marina fields. Local participating teams include Northampton, Amherst, Longmeadow, Four Rivers, and NMH.
